Description:

The Unit Stat Reporting process is mainframe application that extracts all the Policy level data that includes class codes, rates, Premiums, Claims from various DB2 tables. The file created by mainframe application loaded into DB2 table to allow Informatica tool to create various reports, these reports are reviewed by regulatory team (NCCI, State Bureau) to make sure that Insurer and Insured data are correct in the daily/weekly/monthly reporting. The report goes through business logic which built in Map Reduce and Spark-Scala logic. The volume of the data was around 110 GB/month and takes longer time to send feeds to downstream as well Insurance regulatory system. The process was reengineered and the next generation downstream/billing reporting built in Hadoop system.

Role and Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for building scalable distributed data solutions using Hadoop.

Chubb’s Insurance coverage, Pricing, Claims data are spread across in many system with different format. Chubb wants to aggregate this information to create effective forecasting system called Claim Forecast. Causal file process is one of the mainframe applications that create 9 weeks’ worth of Causal data at Store, Item and Day level. To meet this requirement the process needs to involve huge volume of data, nearly 50 GB to 60 GB per day. The intermediate files size is expanding further in the downstream process as base file data is at week level for Store and Item. Entire mainframe batch runs for several hours due to high volume of data and this application need to consider several complex rules and formula to converts specific Insurance Event into appropriate RDF Causal value.

Role and Responsibilities:

·         The mainframe Causal file process re-engineered in Spark ecosystem using the core concept of RDDs and Data frames whereas the underlying language used as Scala.

·         The promotional data that required for this application off loaded from Mainframe DB2 to HDFS using Sqoop.

·         The business rules maintained in SSIS package has been converted into HIVE warehouse.
