Oct. 1999–            SBI and Company (American Airlines)                                                       Dallas, Texas

Jun. 2004              Technical Architect/Senior Technical Architect

Recently completed almost 3 year term at American Airlines where I completed the full design/implement design cycle for the new AA.com and BusinessExtrAA.com website.

AA.com is a travel booking and frequent flier site - recently selected as World's Leading Airline Internet Site (World Travel Awards). BusinessExtrAA.com was companion loyalty site for business users.

Both sites were large ATG Dynamo implementations (AA.com having a massive server farm),

Predominately using the DAS server by using mainly nucleus components with back end data access objects/views/repositories and EJB’s on occasion. The site was effectively 90+% ATG and the rest using normal J2EE mechanisms. We also touched on the Personalization and Scenario servers from time to time as needed.

I also spent a significant amount of time on app support for both the above sites – from being the on call contact rota; to troubleshooting the dynamo logs for faults/weakness; and a significant time refactoring and bug fixes; plus a little time on performance enhancements.

Another significant project in the past with SBI was Readers Digest.com redesign, again a Java/ATG Project.  My time with SBI and been 99% with the AA client though other smaller projects were generically based on the following:

E-commerce web development projects as follows: utilizing JSP/servlets; Java Beans/Enterprise Beans; XML; ATG Dynamo; Jrun; Tomcat; Together (J).

(NB: SBI were ATG's business partner of the year 2002 for the Americas)

Jul. 1998–            Ericsson Radio Systems, Research & Development                     Dallas, TX, USA

Apr. 1999             Senior Engineer (local employment)

Returned to help work on Ericsson’s GSM over IP project. This project was under extreme time constraints as the goal was to be the first in the world to bring to market a GSM over the Internet system .This system allows its users to establish GSM calls over the Internet when within range of their companies Intranet and to revert to a regular GSM call when outside range.

Designed and implemented a new Swing Java interface and GUI for the AXE switch emulator (EMU). The switch ran on UNIX and the rest of GSM over IP ran on a Java VM in a Windows NT platform. I also developed a SS7 signaling gateway simulator in Java and an AXE alarm panel in Java plus a couple of other smaller generic simulators.

Consultant for Irdeto (satellite pay TV/interactive Television Company), worked alongside Irdeto engineers to complete a satellite request/pay TV system. Jan. 1997–1998  Ericsson Radio Systems, Research & Development                                               Dallas, USA

Senior Engineer (contract from Ericsson Ltd to Ericsson Inc.)

Designed a service management system for Ericsson Mobile Intelligent Network Services for the new Personal Assistant mobile phone prototype which incorporated a flip-top keyboard & screen for viewing subscriber features such as email; fax; personal number features. I led a team of 5 designers from all levels of competence to assist me implement my design. The system had a Java Swing GUI which allowed service provider operators to manage their services on both subscriber and service levels. The back end was implemented in C++ as it was based in Ericsson’s TMOS platform and used SMAS for the storage of service data.

Feb.1996–1997   Ericsson Ltd, Public Systems Division, Network Development                              UK/Sweden

Senior Software Designer

Assisted EHPT project (Ericsson Hewlett-Packard Telecommunications) developing a generic external access handler to allow any external systems to communicate with an AXE telephony switch `using X.29 protocol. Development was done on Ericsson’s TMOS platform in C++ for both Sun Solaris and HP-UX10.10.  I also wrote a generic Network Element parser to enable any external protocols to be defined and also assisted EHPT in Stockholm for 6 months to oversee function test and troubleshoot the system.

Jun.1995–            ISAP (Interactive Speech & Applications Platform)                Burgess Hill/Ipswich, UK

Feb.1996               Invited to work with new Ericsson product to assist in rapid development of ISAP, a new

hardware platform with intelligent software capable of offering a large array of telecommunications applications. ISAP allows services which have a natural two-way dialogue with the caller thanks to speaker independent speech recognition (i.e. British Telecoms  CallMinder service was built on this).

I was involved throughout the design cycle to transform the ISAP research project into a working quality product. My role was to develop the software for a Generic Platform Management system for ISAP, which was implemented with C++ on ISAP’s UNIX’s processors and VmWorks OS. Much of this work was carried out with close cooperation with British Telecom at Martlesham Laboratories research facilities.

Mar.1993–           Designed applications for the Ericsson TMOS (Telecommunication Management & Operations Jun.1996   Support) platform. This involved full design cycle for the TMOS subsystem SMAS (Service

Management Application System) which provides telecommunication services using the Intelligent Network concept. This work was undertook for Ericsson Hewlett-Packard (EHPT) at Mondal in Gothenburg where I took sole responsibility for a Generic Services Adapter remote interface which provided various interface capabilities including an interface to Sybase; Openwindows & generic GUI’s. Again this work was done in a C++ in UNIX environment.

Oct.1990–             Ericsson Ltd, Public Systems Division, OIS & STS Subsystems             Burgess Hill, UK

Mar.1993             Software Designer

Designing real-time software applications for both the Public Telephony and

Cellular Mobile markets which use the Ericsson AXE 10 switch. These were written in EriPascal, an extension of Pascal developed by Ericsson for real-time applications in distributed systems.

The development work was performed in Sun UNIX environment following a rigorous & comprehensive design model based on a "Milestone" and "TollGate" concept (Ericsson's `PROPS' General Project Model).
