Medapoint, Austin TX |
Director/Data Architect |
2/2014 – Present |
Medapoint is the developer of AdvanceClaim; a cloud-based application for Emergency Medical Services (Ambulance) billing and dispatch. Medapoint also provides medical billing consulting services to their clients.
Principle Accomplishments and Contributions:
As Data Architect, worked closely with internal and external customers to determine and document EMS finance, accounting, work flow, claim management and billing needs. These requirements were used to design, construct and continually enhance a database used for internal application reporting, data warehousing and data analysis/analytics. Also designed and developed various modeling/analytical programs to help business improve on processes such as cash forecasting and patient insurance eligibility.
· Evaluated standard data elements used in the EMS billing industry (NEMSIS), reviewed existing financial reports and interviewed clients to design tables/fields/structure for AdvanceClaim internal and external reporting.
· Utilizing SQL Server and T-SQL, designed and created ETLs to consolidate/aggregate data, create derived fields and move data from the production server to the reporting server on a scheduled basis.
· Directed off-shore team in redesigning and moving existing application reports from production tables to the new ODS reporting database tables on a reporting server. This not only made the application reports run much faster, but took a significant load off of the application production server.
· Developed a predicative modelling program using T-SQL (patent pending), AdvanceInsight, which helps clients to project revenue, cash flow and AR based on past insurance pay-outs, demographics and other variables.
· Developed a T-SQL program (integrated into the AdvanceClaim application) that takes the demographics of a patient and determines the top 5 insurance providers where that patient is likely to have eligibility. The results were then fed into a proprietary API that checks patient insurance eligibility for each of these insurance providers.
· Worked with EDI team extensively to help troubleshoot and streamline complex EDI claim payment process. Created set of database tables to assist and help report on the EDI claim statuses.
· Developed data validation queries that automatically check for inconsistencies in the production data. Based on the type of validation issue, the validation results automatically get assigned to the appropriate work group for resolution.
· Developed Work Flow logic in the database tables which, based on variables within each claim, places each claim into a Work Flow “Bucket”. This derived field helps clients distribute claims to the appropriate work group who will handle the next step in claim management.
· Handled a variety of complex ad-hoc analytic requests daily for internal and external customers.
