Database Application Lead / Data Modeler / Developer – Jan 2012 to Till Date (Customer - UBS Financial Services)

·         Designed Sybase 15.0.3 to 15.7 upgrade approaches for the complex three region, ten servers (3-Sybase primary ASE servers, 4-BCP and 3-Replication servers) setup and data center movement from one location to other with new infrastructure in place. With minimal impact to business, downstream system the approach was designed in two phases to upgrade Primary and Replication servers in phase1 and BCP servers in phase2.

·         Worked on data modelling tasks for the new Account data model project and also developed data models for the existing project reverse engineering tasks.

·         Generated data model for the tax module to separate from Account and Client data systems.

·         Worked on proposal for upgrading DB's from Sybase to Oracle and in data consolidation from three regions into single instance

·         Also involved in DB2 to Oracle database migration project and to move the environment on to DBaas infrastructure.

·         Worked on application performance tuning, reducing deadlocks and shell scripts performance tuning

Jan 2007 – Dec 2011: SME, Onsite Coordination and Technical Lead/Developer (Client-UBS)

§  As an SME and Application lead, I was handling UBS reference data store application's monthly and quarterly changes end in end for about 2years. This application was developed in Sybase, shell/Perl scripting with three regions replicating using Sybase replication server, application had around 12000 procedures, 700 views, 500 triggers and 1800 tables with 290GB DB size replicating between three regions. Responsibilities include developing Sybase procedures, triggers, views, shell scripts and delivering changes to production.

§  As an onsite coordinator I was gathering requirements and supporting business users on the new requirements and production team on the day to day prod issues reported to the L3 team. Also I was handling all the environments for the reference data store projects and masking data in all databases as required for different project needs.

§  As a L3 resource I have fixed many performance issues for the procedures/triggers, tables, shell scripts and also addressed many deadlocks issues reported on day to day basis.

Feb 2003 – Dec 2006 as a Database Developer (Client – Lehman Brothers, Tokyo Shinsei Bank, UK Marsh Insurance)

§  The legacy Zaikei mainframe application was primarily used for corporate to provide asset accumulation for their salaried employees. So the individual employee salary deductions invested in bank debentures and allow the employees to create assets like housing or save for pension based on accumulation and reinvestment of salary deductions. As part of the legacy mainframe system conversion to open system I was involved in development of Oracle procedures and crystal reports generation for the new open system application.

§  At Marsh Insurance, I have worked on the application developed in Oracle and VB to hold 25million insurance policies for the UK mobile phones, includes Vodafone, O2, MPC, 3 and One tel. Work was primarily involved in supporting L3 activities and production support work in Oracle, VB at customer location in London.

§  At Lehman Brothers I was working as a developer to migrate all the Actuate report logic to Crystal reports and in Sybase database. The application was built in Java, EJB, Actuate, DB2, Crystal Reports, Oracle 8i and Sybase

Other Miscellaneous Short-Term Work

§  As a member of Database practice team at Wipro Technologies, I was part of interview panel for multiple projects in recruiting resources for the DB team. Also consulted different projects within Wipro in guiding and supporting on the Database issues and approaches.

§  Trained many junior team members on Sybase database and guided them on day to day work.

§  Involved in legacy application simplification proposal to simplify frontend legacy technologies to web based Java application and in DB consolidation proposal work.

§  Suggested on many performance and process improvements which had FTE savings to the bank.

§  Some of the batch jobs running for more than 25hrs was redesigned to run in 4 to 5hrs.
