Senior consultant overseeing the implementation of a startup ISP specializing in high-speed wireless Internet connectivity.  Other responsibilities included RF testing including antennas, access points, and end devices, TCP/IP Addressing Scheme and routing policies.

Designed and assisted in the implementation of a national 300 site Frame-Relay network.

Network Engineer for a security project encompassing Internet connectivity and external network access for trusted third-party relationships.  Implemented an infrastructure utilizing a DMZ for secured Internet connectivity and highly filtered segments for trusted external connectivity.

 

Designed and implemented a Campus network environment involving multiple facilities and over 3000 users.  This project encompassed a LAN topology change from Token Ring to Ethernet, the introduction of Gigabit as a backbone technology, and the migration from shared to switched media.

 

The Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.

Network Architect 08/98 – 06/99.

Led an assessment of Infrastructure for the $2.5 Billion foundation.  The assessment analyzed and reported on the current state of the enterprise network operating system, server hardware, application portfolio, and support organization.  The assessment also included recommendations for changes and an implementation plan.  Follow on projects included authoring and implementing organizational IT policies, standards, and procedures and IT disaster recovery piece of an overall business continuity plan. The multi-year architectural plan included the purpose of an architectural plan, design principles, and design alternatives, as well as, a summary of the current environment, tactical milestones, and strategic direction.

 

Responsible for development and documentation of a TCP/IP addressing and a public ATM NSAP addressing scheme for a large scale network.

 

 

Key Corp (Society Bank), Cleveland, Ohio.

Network Architect 10/97 – 08/98.

Lead engineering team in the architecture direction and design of Key Corp’s during the merger with Society Bank.  This $10M project was based on a migration from Token Ring to  10/100 Ethernet switching model utilizing Fast EtherChannel and Gigabit uplinks, an ATM core using LANE in the MAN and PVCs in the WAN.  The integration encompassed three data centers, multiple distribution centers and in excess of 1000+ branches at the access layer utilizing Frame Relay.

 

Network Engineer 06/94 – 09/97.

Assisted in the development of Key Corp’s next generation network, utilizing WAN/LAN skills with protocols such as BGP4, OSPF, RIP, TCP/IP, IPX and SRB (NetBIOS and SNA).  This three tiered network was designed to use Token Ring, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, LAN Switching, FDDI, Frame Relay, and ATM technologies.  During my experience at Key, I designed and implemented over 150 remote sites including multi-story buildings, high availability Call Centers, and core Data Centers.  I was also responsible for production engineering and interoperability of a 300+ router environment.

 

Commercial Systems – Programmer Analyst II 08/93 – 05/94.

Conducted extensive quality assurance testing and documentation of a third party vendor client/server applications as well as in-house developed programs.

 

Commercial Systems – Programmer Analyst I 10/91 – 07/93.

Developed and supported an OS/2 based client/server application deployed across five states and over 1000 workstations.  This project was awarded the 1994 Smithsonian Nominee Award in the Finance, Insurance and Real Estate category.  It was one of the first projects in the United States to use LU6.2 communications to enable a client/server link between the workstation and the IBM mainframe.  I was primarily responsible for LAN Server administration for thirty domains.  During my tenure, I engineered and developed a software distribution routine that encompassed the OS/2 Operating System, OS/2 LAN Server, and workstation applications.

 

Systems Associate 01/91 – 09/91.

Recruited to participate in the Management Training Program.  I attended classes in Structured COBOL, MVS JCL, Structured Testing and Quality Assurance, and Data Base Concepts.  Other duties included unit, system and integration testing, application design, and production support.
