Developed Y2K porting strategy and architecture (Barclays Global Investors, San Francisco CA, 1998)  Part of a small team of developers conducting an aggressively scheduled cutover from ISAM data storage to relational database technology in support of Y2K conversion and validation. Solely responsible for the implementation of a library of classes that replicated the existing ISAM call interface. This resulted in a change of plan that allowed completion of the effort in far less time than was scheduled and resulted in a cost savings of over $250,000.  Wrote Sybase access programs using C++ and Rogue Wave DBTools.  Created process monitoring/management software.  Wrote portable RDBMS interfaces to aid in porting ISAM modules. Responsible for revamp of technology and policies (Montgomery Asset Management, San Francisco CA, ongoing 1997 – 1999)  Brought in by a new CIO to revamp technology and policies in the IT department for a mutual fund located in San Francisco. I was hired to develop internal accounting applications and assist with Sybase database administration. Because of demands on the staff, due to the rapid growth, I also supported on-line functions. These included design and development of  the email system back-end, support for the news groups. Both of these were critical functions and comprised their two busiest functions at that time.  Responsible for server administration, schema design and performance tuning for high-performance relational databases.  System used Sybase RDBMS to store/retrieve 200+ email messages/sec.  Created custom socket-based servers to allow access of usage stats by internal users, as well as AOL partners.  Created parser based Yacc based utility programs, automate  processing of email, other tasks.  Created account management utilities.
