MarathonOil Corp, Houston TX (http://www.marathonoil.com) Aug’14- July’15
Role: Lead ASP.Net MVC 4.0 /C# Developer
Project: MaraDrill™
Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO) is an independent international exploration and production company. Based in Houston, Texas, the Company has activity in North America, Europe and Africa. The Company has three reportable operating segments, each of which is organized and managed based primarily upon geographic location and the nature of the products and services it offers.
MaraDrill is a technology platform application architectured, designed and developed to enable the Marathon Oil Corporation to gather, aggregate, analyze and disseminate real-time drilling data in a way that can enhance decision-making at the rig site and reduce drilling times and capital well costs. The platform aggregates real-time data at the rig site, which is used to further enable on site personnel to quickly identify and overcome significant drilling issues and get benefited from a continuous improvement cycle from previous drilling operations. It also transfers detailed data to optimization engineers at off-site (Houston head office) who further analyze the information and provide additional feedback to improve drilling operations. MaraDrill provides access to Off-site engineers to monitor activities at several rigs and so wells simultaneously. In addition, MaraDrill relates the strength of the rock being drilled to the rig’s hydro-mechanical system in a way that can optimize the rate of penetration and improve overall drilling efficiency. The current application of the proprietary technology recommends weight on bit (WOB), revolutions per minute (RPM) and flow-rate parameters that the driller can adjust manually.
Drilling Graph and Dials is a dynamic real time graph, moving continuously on X- axis per second, showing real time values of torque, azimuth, hole depth, bit depth, torsional energy (TE), hydraulic energy (HE), general energy, hydromechanics specific energy (HMSE), rate of penetration (ROP), flow rate, weight on bit (WOB), revolutions per minute (RPM) etc. drilling parameters while drilling is going on.
These current parameters play significant roles for Driller and Optimization engineer to take further decisions on next drilling processes or activities.
Dials are the pictorial representation of drilling process for drilling parameters showing Min, Max, Optimal Start, Optimal End and Sweet spot values along with warning signs, green and red when value of drilling parameters are within or out of Min-Max range. The values of dials variables are configurable.
Historical Graph, This graph is same as drilling graph; however this is a static graph showing values of Torque, Azimuth, Depth, Torsional Energy (TE), Hydraulic Energy (HE), General Energy, Hydromechanics Specific Energy (HMSE), Hole Depth, Rate of Penetration (ROP), Flow Rate etc. drilling parameters for selected time range. This was enabling Driller, Optimization engineer, Rig Manager to analyze drilling process for particular rig on particular site and to take futuristic decisions for the same site.
