MDM – Provider project is aimed to enhance and enrich the Data Quality for MDM. The project involves migration of SQL Data to Oracle database. The project is executed in different sprint and tracked using PMF and VersionOne tool. The current Provider and member data is stored in multiple systems without a single source of truth. This has led to continuous data and information challenges for strategic data-driven initiatives and ongoing processing challenges in the operational environment. Data sent from one application to another application is often changed as it is passed in order to accommodate system limitations. When this altered data is sent further downstream to other applications, the traceability back to the original data becomes difficult or impossible. The impact is seen when a pended claim requires hours of research and countless resources in order to determine the root cause. For the client to meet the future business and technical needs, the provider data has to have a common identifier across all client systems.
Additionally, provider and member data is not standardized and structured across the various systems like MHS. For example, the inability to have consistent and conformed Provider specialty taxonomy prevents to consistently report on Providers by Specialty. This leads to inefficiencies and increased costs. Also, from member side there are issues with Data Quality (e.g. Bad Addresses) which cause returned mail and have a financial impact.
