Strategy & Leadership

·         Engaged by founders to take a business idea and build a best-of-class, industry respected Capital Markets service bureau, currently processing trillions of dollars annually and supporting several of the largest banks and trading institutions on Wall St.

Software Architecture & Development

·         Architected next-generation trading platform – a reactive microservices-based architecture using Spring Boot, Java 8/Scala, React, and Kafka.

·         Implemented MarginCalculator, a SPA/SaaS TBA margining solution, recently relaunched to support the FINRA Rule 4210 (Margin Requirements).  Implemented in Java 8/Scala, and the Play Framework.

·         Implemented strategies around legacy application modernization, emphasizing use of microservices and functional programming.

·         Led in-house adoption of Agile SDLC and DevOps.

Infrastructure

·         Designed and implemented geographically dispersed data centers utilizing technologies from Checkpoint, Nokia, Cisco, Citrix, VMware, Oracle, Nimble, Microsoft, IBM, and Redhat.

·         Overseeing data center consolidation and refresh following recent company acquisition, leading to projected savings of at least 60%.

·         Overseeing expansion into Oracle Cloud, and appraisal of secondary cloud providers, including AWS and IBM Cloud.

·         Implemented Cybersecurity strategy based on NIST Framework in preparation of DFS NYCRR Part 500 compliance requirement, and the SEC 17a-4 regulation around electronic data archiving (as Acting CISO).

·         Installed, supported and managed all Oracle RAC environments utilizing both DataGuard and Dbvisit for replication. Releases supported are 10g, 11gR2 and 12cR2.

·         Piloted Data Warehouse and Data Lake implementations to support Finance Department and Quantitative Analytics Team.

·         Generated infrastructure-related objectives and budgets; reviewed and approved major contracts for computing and IT services and equipment.

·         Designed Intranet solution for legacy application modernization, migrating agent management system from primarily mainframe to web-based solution utilizing Java technologies.

·         Managed project developing custom Java Linux Desktop solution planned for rollout to 80,000+ AIG users, ensuring consistent interoperability with existing Microsoft-based server-side infrastructure.

·         Directed and oversaw the implementation of enterprise Java technologies at CSFB in the development of an online equities trading platform.

·         Worked with Java Design Center to provide qualified real-world feedback for consideration in the evolution of enterprise Java technologies.

·         Implemented solution for direct selling of Sun Microsystems hardware to SunGard clients by architecting e-commerce site developed using Java, J2EE on JRun, XML and Oracle on a clustered Solaris platform. Solution was Punchout Ready™ for integration into clients Ariba installations.

·         Developed a Titanium-level partnership with Mercury Interactive utilizing their technologies to generate new service offerings around Business Technology Optimization (BTO), business availability, vendor management solutions, and strategic business alignment managed services.

·         Developed online credit-rating application for construction credit-rating agency using Java/J2EE, JBoss, XML, and MySQL on Unix platform.

·         Consulted with wireless software start-up providing guidance in architectural redesign to support future growth potential in DRM.

·         Migrated Merrill Lynch equities derivatives software to latest release of Solaris platform, serving as project manager and lead developer. Technologies included C/C++.

·         Migrated Deutsche Bank fixed income group trading software from AIX to latest release of Solaris platform, serving as project manager and technical lead. Technologies included C/C++ and UIM/X.

·         Architect with corporate-wide initiative to innovate new market data products. Designed and oversaw development – client and server side – of real-time news feed and publishing platforms, developed using C++, CORBA, Java and Java Swing.
