As the Manager of Technical Operations within our Claims Administration Unit, lead a 25 member team in supporting all facets of technology support in claims administration including serving as the primary interface with our third party system integrators Cognizant (Trizetto) and ChangeHealth (Electronic Provider Payments) and internal SQL administration including ad-hoc and compliance reporting.  In this role, I was responsible for identifying, hiring and on-boarding  technical resources for our internal (permanent) and support (consultant) teams.

 

As a certified fraud examiner, review approximately 5000 claim lines of United Healthcare and Care-n-Care Medicare claims to screen for Fraud, Waste and Abuse as well as CCI Edit compliance.   Prepare and report cases to the US Department of Justice and Medicare Fraud Governance Committees in the South Central Region. 

 

Assist Clinical Finance Director with the creation of Excel Spreadsheets to assess claims experience of certain providers who have demonstrated to abuse Medicare medical claims.  Look for outliers and billing patterns in order to assess potential Fraud complaints with the Medic.

As Director of the Customer Benchmark Center, I was responsible for developing high performance benchmarks for the end-user or Alliance (third-party marketing) organizations to assist with both closing sales as well as addressing system performance issues.  Managed staff of 7 in delivering superior service.  Responsible for over 64 CPU’s, including original Rosewood (TNS II), Crystal (TXP), and VLX performance tests.

 

Personally worked on over 100 benchmarks including JC Penney, Alcoa and the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles.  This involved coding customer applications in a variety of languages, COBOL 74, COBOL 85, FORTRAN 77 and TAL, per customer application specifications.  Fluent in all phases of performance analysis, capacity planning and systems operations.   Developed Tandem Terminal Simulator and Performance Reporting System for use in Pathway style benchmarks.  Simulator is still in use as of 1992 in many field offices as well as the Benchmark Center.  Fluent in TMF design specifications.

 

Consulted to the software development organization on the performance characteristics of various Guardian releases, hardware releases and software designs including, but not limited to, PATHTCP2 and NonStop SQL.  Responsible for the development and execution of the system configuration instructions for the V8 and other complex DASD units.

 

As a Tandem field analyst, managed a staff of 5 at the Bank of America account and helped conceive and close a $20MM project.  Was transferred to the Sacramento office where my efforts concentrated on responding to the State of California DMV RFP as well as working on several performance and operational issues within the state government (Teale Data Center, Department of Education and Franchise Tax Board).  During my field assignment, I also served as the Western Region Designated Specialist for Performance and Capacity Planning as well as System Operations where I assisted several critical Tandem projects such as the San Jose School District, McKesson and Kaiser Permanente.

 

Served on the design and roll-out team for Non-Stop SQL, Tandem’s full function relational database offering referential integrity and distributed processing.  As a designated specialist in high performance systems design, worked with many clients as they migrated to a relational DBMS strategy from existing indexed sequential strategies.
