Position: Senior Programmer/Analyst
Duties: Responsible for development of new features using Progress (4GL) and Oracle programming. Installation, implementation, troubleshooting for onsite customers where time factors are extremely critical for EDI problems. Worked heavily in Progress 7.3/8.2 and UNIX shell scripting on many UNIX/NT platforms. Have an extensive knowledge of EDI (electronic data interchange) and working directly with QAD source code database relations and Gentran:Server. Was on-site working directly with customers implementing, migrating and testing EDI systems to their ERP/CRM systems and trading partners. Integrated Barcoding Software and hardware with EDI ASN’s.
Accomplishments: Implemented the year 2000 issue into the Total-EDI product. Completely designed, programmed and implemented new software package for Faxing directly from QAD. This included documentation and packaging of the product for the market. Brought it to market in 6 months.
Set up of internal infrastructure for testing and development of the software on 4 UNIX and 3 NT platforms supporting over 10 versions of MFG/PRO. This included setting up networking, Windows NT servers and Windows 95 clients. Implemented Gentran:Server for Hosted EDI services.
8/95 to 12/96 Omega Cabinets Inc Waterloo, Iowa
Position: IS Director
Duties: Managed IS department with a budget of over $120,000.00 per year. Supervised 5 individuals. Redesigned, planned, installed and implemented all computers and networks using FDDI and 10/100baseT across a 5 building campus for over 128 users. Implemented a RF (radio frequency) bar-coding system with the main ERP system using an IBM RS-6000 server and Novell 4.1 for back office operations. Worked closely with the Progress based ERP system (Royal 4/MXP) in automating accounting and manufacturing operations and reports with hands on programming.
Accomplishments: Interfaced a hand held barcode gun directly with the ERP system replacing an old PC based system. Completely setup a new computer center for housing all the servers and networks. Designed and programmed a FAX back order confirmation system to customers within a 24 hours period using Progress (4GL) database language. This dealt with over 500 orders per week.
7/93 to 8/95 DOD Electronics Corp. Salt Lake City, Utah
Position: Manager of Information Systems
Duties: Managed the IS department with a budget of over 100,000.00 per year. Supervised 6 individuals. My main objective was to bring up a complete ERP manufacturing/accounting system and networks for the entire company. This was done using Symix a Progress based ERP application. Worked very closely with the accounting department in developing financial reports using Progress (4GL) database language. This included payroll, purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, order entry and manufacturing. It required extensive knowledge of systems administration and Progress programming with Symix source code and database relations.
Accomplishments: brought MRP up and running in 5 months. Reduced inventory by over 1 million. It turned the company from losing money to making a profit by using a computer based ERP system for accounting and manufacturing. This helped reduce costs by having more effective reports.
10/86 to 7/93 Ceramatec Corp. Salt Lake City, Utah
Position: Computer Systems Administrator
Duties: Installed, programmed and implemented PC based computers, networks and UNIX based IBM RS-6000 platform. Worked on a project team to develop sales department database software for estimates and quotes to customers using the Symix ERP system and Progress (4GL). Worked very closely with the accounting department in developing financial reports using the general ledger of Symix. Helped implement Symix ERP application for bringing up MRP and accounting. Automated the systems administration of the systems.
Accomplishments: developed a time clock entry system using Progress (4GL) and bar-coded badges. Brought up the new ERP system (Symix) replacing the old system.

Installed, programmed, and implemented PC based computers and networks as an outside consultant for other companies, this included 10baseT, FDDI, Ethernet, Modem/RS232 communications.
Developed and maintain a Point-of-Sale system for Monroc Inc. using Progress (4GL) on DOS PC's and RS-6000 mini-mainframe system as an outside consultant.
