Key Project Accomplishments:

            Program Management and Reporting

Design, develop and implement a Microsoft Project 2010/SharePoint 2007-based Program Management and Reporting solution to bring MS Project-like project plans to all resources at the Enterprise level allowing each resource to close their own tasks through SharePoint when completed.  These updates were automatically imported into a Master Program plan at 10 minute intervals allowing Project to recalculate progress for the entire portfolio and export the new figures back to SharePoint giving upper management up-to-the-minute status on all projects within the program at a single glance.

Solution included rapid resource assignment, automated task list generation and Earned Value-based management reporting at the Project or the Milestone level as either Outlook email or to Excel spreadsheets.

SharePoint 2007 Data Migration

Manage a migration team consisting of 3 Windows System Administrators, 3 Storage Engineers and 2 Networking Engineers tasked with moving Amgen’s entire SharePoint 2007 data store from outdated, slow storage in Rhode Island to new, more efficient storage in Thousand Oaks in preparation for the SharePoint 2010 Upgrade and Migration to Microsoft Cloud projects.  As an enterprise-wide system intense planning, benchmarking and testing were required to ensure complete success.  Increased overall performance by more than 100% and reduced nightly batch processes nearly 50%.

EMC CLARiiON Storage Refresh

Manage a team of 1 Storage Engineer, 3 Windows Systems Administrators and 2 UNIX Systems Administrators in all aspects of SAN migration to replace 4 EMC Clarion CX3 storage arrays with EMC VNX 7500 arrays in Washington, Rhode Island and California including server remediation, VSAN configuration, storage design/configuration, data migration and extensive application testing to ensure complete and accurate data migration.  Also served as liaison to the Change Management Board, Life Cycle and Maintenance Review committee and the Amgen business community.

Project Objectives and Results

The vast majority of these projects resulted in the customers’ ability to store 2-3 times more data using 50% of the original physical space avoiding the need to secure additional expensive data center square footage while at the same time cutting operational overhead by an average of 25%.

Projects often included complex and lengthy migration and compression strategies involving NetApp and non-NetApp storage devices requiring meticulous planning and extensive testing strategies.  These projects often required frequent travel to customer satellite offices in numerous U.S. cities to directly supervise installation and implementation teams and drive projects to timely completion.
