Awards and Recognition
7/2011 – NASA Spaceflight Awareness Team Award
Presented to Gregory H Bartz for his work on the 6-DOF Integrated Simulation Benchmarking and Evaluation Team. This led to the choice of JPL’s DSENDS architecture for the future needs of JSC’s MOD.
9/2009 – NASA JSC Group Achievement Award
Presented to Gregory H Bartz for his excellent evaluation of rendezvous & undocking with loss of vernier jet capability, ensuring successful execution of proximity operations and fly-around. This was real-time analysis after an Orbiter failure. The team worked around the clock to develop and test techniques and procedures to ensure a safe crew return.
10/2007 – USA Flight Design and Dynamics Technical Achievement Award
Presented to Gregory H Bartz for his adapting the Robotics Planning System from the Robotics Group to Flight Design. Mr. Bartz saw an opportunity to use an existing tool in another department to improve and expand the capabilities of the Flight Design and Dynamics Group. He brought the tool into the group and worked with the developers to create NASA’s highest fidelity clearance analysis tool. He trained personnel, developed procedures, wrote scripts to automate processes, and quickly became the leading clearance analysis expert at JSC. Within one year, other groups were calling on Mr. Bartz and his team to do complex clearance analysis.
