The Data Engineering & Reporting team has undertaken a major migration Project initiative working along with IAC infrastructure group to bring IAC Applications on-premise databases to Amazon Cloud (AWS) because of Data centers at Las Vegas and DuPont lease/contract expiration early 2018. This includes Data Warehouse, CMRS database, Tableau Server and a lot of backend processing that happens as part of messaging, ETL and LTV calculations. The IT directive was to move all the application and Infrastructure services to a secured, better and cost-effective options. After a thorough POC was performed, Amazon (AWS) proved to be the most cost-effective, efficient and Scalable environment to accomplish this project initiative. Snowflake has been chosen as the new Data Warehouse solution because of its ability to spin fully manageable compute cluster with ease.
